My Top 5 Clean Treat Recipes

Clean treats are my secret weapon to fight cravings. They provide all the deliciousness I need without the extra calories. Natural pleasures I like to call them! Plus because they are within my calorie count I can indulge in a clean treat daily if I want. I no longer have to hold back and they satisfy my cravings completely.

So here are my top 5 favorite clean treat recipes.

Oat-Y Pancakes

Who doesn’t like pancakes in the morning?! I usually have porridge or scrambled eggs for breakfast anyway, so this pancake recipe combines both of those. Plus there are so many toppings to choose from – Walden Farm’s Maple Syrup, peanut butter, chia seeds, berries, banana etc.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg white
  • 1 cup oat flour
  • ½ cup milk or almond milk
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Method

  • Whisk all ingredients together until consistency is runny but slightly thick. If mixture is too dry add a little water.
  • Place a fry pan on medium heat with some coconut oil. Spoon in mixture and flip when mixture starts to bubble.

Cinnamon Bread

When dieting it can become quite a challenge when invited to a birthday party or BBQ with friends. The food available is usually not on my diet list and so I often struggle to find food I can eat. To avoid this situation I often eat before I go and I bring a cake or loaf with me. The hosts appreciate it and I have something to eat. Cinnamon Bread is one of my favorite dishes to take because it is easy to make in large batches.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 4 tbsp natural honey
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
  • 1 1/4 cup almond flour
  • 1/3 cup coconut flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Method

  • Preheat oven to 200 degrees. In a bowl put the honey, coconut oil, mashed banana and vanilla extract to the two eggs. Whisk until smooth.
  • In another bowl, add all of the dry ingredients together and then add in the wet ingredients and combine them well.
  • Place parchment paper on your cake tin. Then distribute the dough evenly and spread out with a spatula.
  • Bake in the oven for approximately 30 minutes or until the top looks golden and toothpick comes out clean. Sprinkle top with cinnamon and serve.

Raspberry Mint Icy Poles

When its hot outside all I want to do is cool down with an icy pole. So instead of buying a sugar packed icy pole from the store, I make my own healthy version. These Raspberry Mint Icy Poles are delicious, low calorie and very soothing under the hot Australian sun.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 2 drops vanilla essence
  • ½ cup mint leaves
  • 4 slot icey pole mold

Method

  • In a blender, blend all ingredients together until consistency is smooth.
  • Taste to make sure the mixture is sweet enough. If you would like it sweeter, add 1 tsp stevia and blend again.
  • Pour mixture into Icey pole mold and set for 4 hours or overnight.

Protein Balls

Sometimes I get sick of drinking my protein powder. It is delicious but when you drink it everyday it can become a forced routine. So when this happens I make protein balls with my protein powder and have them after my workout. For me it tastes like eating a chocolate bar after I train plus I get the protein boost.

Ingredients

  • 2 scoops protein powder
  • 2 tbsp cacao
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 2 tbsp melted coconut oil (as required)
  • ½ cup shredded coconut (for rolling)
  • 2 tbsp shredded coconut (for mixing)

Method

  • Blend together all ingredients in a blender or bar mix.
  • With wet hands roll mixture into balls. If mixture is dry add more melted coconut oil.
  • Then roll in shredded coconut
