My Morning Routine

Lauren Simpson Fitness Blog | Quote

I believe that how you start your morning is going to set you up for the rest of the day. Waking up with a positive mindset is imperative to being productive and loving what you do! It is so easy to fall into the trap of being negative about going to the gym or work, instead of being grateful for having the ability to do so. It is time to change that.

Finding something to do upon waking that makes you happy, no matter how big or small it is, this is a great way to set yourself up with a positive outlook for the day. I love coffee, so for me waking up and having a coffee ensures that I am ready to take on the day. Or you might like to meditate, stretch or listen to music? The key to all morning routines is that you make it your own and start the day in a positive way.

Mornings are when I am the most productive in the morning. I am a creature of habit and like to start my day around 5.30/6am each day. I start my day by watching the sunrise over the ocean and pump out a lot of my laptop work and social media. This will once again be different for everyone, so don’t feel bad if your morning routine isn’t the same as mine. So many of my #LSFbabes start their mornings in the gym or getting their step count up! Which I encourage my babes to do. Going to the gym, or for a walk, first thing in the morning is a great way to wake yourself up and be energized for the rest of the day. It is also good to get your workout done early, so your excuses don’t get in the way for the day!

I love breakfast, so after I wake myself up with a coffee it is time for my favorite meal of the day. Protein oats are my go-to breakfast as they are high in carbohydrates and protein, which is the perfect pre-workout meal! I don’t like to train in a fasted state and find that this is the ideal meal to fuel my workouts.

Once the oats are cooked, top with fresh blueberries and serve warm.

After breakfast, I will either go to the gym or for a long walk to get my steps in! Because it is winter in Australia, I am making sure I get my steps in early because it is dark (and cold for Sydney) so early at the moment. I find that doing some sort of activity in the morning after I have been on my laptop ensures that I’m motivated to get my workout done and those steps in, outside in the sunshine!

By mid-morning, I have had a coffee, been (super) productive and energized myself with a filling meal, so I am ready to take on the rest of the day! Your morning does not have to look anything like this, but it does have to be a good routine for you! Doing something you love, and you know will put you in a good mindset for the day is incredibly important for productivity and mental health. I would love to hear what your morning routine entails!
